Events

Every year the Wye Business Association hosts at least one village event. These events provide fun and entertainment for the whole family. They very effectively fulfill all the aims of the WBA by promoting the businesses, increasing the sense of community within Wye and promoting the village itself. The Christmas Street Party has now become our regular annual event linking nicely with the village Christmas Lights which are provided by the Wye Business Association.
..

These events are also good opportunities to raise funds for our Association. This revenue is then used to fund the next year’s Christmas Lights and Street Party, plus other WBA initiatives. Donations are given every year to needy village groups or projects. Examples are: a music centre to our local sheltered housing, Wye Fire Brigade, play mats for Wye Under Fives, trampoline for the Youth Club, football kit for the junior football team, a coach outing to Gillingham football match for the Youth Club, donation to the Methodist Church hall kitchen refurbishment and donations to the restoration of Wye Crown and the Cricket Club plus a donation towards the Village  firework display and two tourist signs on the A28 between Ashford and Canterbury.

WBA were pleased to be able to purchase two silver trophy shields for the Wye Monarchs Football Club and also paid for the public liability insurance for the Village Bonfire event.
..
In the past years the Business Association has held two Business Exhibitions which gave members a chance to demonstrate their goods and services to residents of Wye and fellow members.

The Association also supports  other Village events. In the last couple of years  Wye has held a very successful ’Wye’s Got Talent’ show and also The Wye Summer Fayre . The WBA were pleased to give it’s support to both events and also gave support to the Parish Church’s Pointsettia Festival which was held over the weekend of 3rd, 4th & 5th December 2010.

Our Association was also asked by the Church to support it’s Victorian Cricket match which was held July 2011. Never a dull moment for the businesses of Wye!

Second Food Festival Planned in 2012 (Saturday 16th June – Sunday 24th June.)

The Wye Business Association and it’s Local Food Group held it’s first Wye Food festival from June 18-30 2011 to promote local and good food in and around Wye. We would like the event to be an ongoing Community event, involving local businesses, groups and societies with an interest in good food production, cooking, drinking and eating. This is why we are repeating the festival this year 2012.
